Ritz Hotel Mendoza

We didn't get our room until 4 p.m., even though check-in was at 2, and it hadn't been cleaned. The dirty sheets triggered a bad allergy reaction for me. The hotel wasn't clean, and the advertised buffet breakfast wasn't actually offered. Avoid this place.

The location is the only real plus; plenty of other hotels are just as well situated. We paid almost $200 US dollars a night, and this place wasn't worth a fraction of that. Staff were not friendly or helpful when we had problems, and the noise was unbearable in room 455 beside the elevator, with street sounds on top of it. We got no sleep. We were five people in two bedrooms with six single beds, flat awful pillows, a carpet that looked like it had never been vacuumed, and just one ridiculously small bathroom. The towels were paper thin, and they charged us for one because it “got dirty.” Apparently they don't wash them? The heat and air shut off when you leave, so the room was muggy when we returned; we had to ask for the electricity to be turned on so the wall units would work. Breakfast was a pitiful complimentary buffet, and I got scolded for making tea in a travel mug to take with me. It's an old hotel with actual keys for the rooms. You have to leave your key at reception when you go out and ask for it back when you return, which made security feel questionable. Even though there was a safe in the room, we left our valuables with us.

The pool was being worked on, and nobody told us beforehand. Our room was dirty and wasn't ready at the right time, and the facilities weren't suitable for the occasion. The staff were very attentive, though.

It's the best place, though it feels too old.
