Fincas del Huacle

The grounds are beautiful, but the stay wasn’t worth over $70 a night to me. Breakfast was the worst part. Every day it was the same: two untoasted slices of white bread, a teaspoon of jam that barely covered one slice, and a piece of pudding with burnt edges that was so dry I had to scrape them off. There was no fruit and no chance of getting seconds, even of those items. The service was just as miserable each day. The room wasn’t worth the price either.

Gaucho and María have a warmth that’s hard to match. The mountain views change with the time of day, and there are birds, flowers and butterflies all around. There aren’t many places like this left in the area. If you’re looking for PEACE, this is it. It’s my place in the world.

We stayed for 10 days last week, and the peace and quiet were incredible. The cabins are separate, set in beautiful grounds away from the main road, so you definitely need a car. They were well equipped, with air conditioning, new mattresses and everything we needed in the kitchen. There was daily cleaning, and breakfast was simple, homemade and delicious. María and Daniel were so kind, and we even had a visit from Santa Claus! Thanks for everything. We’ll definitely be back.

The night sky was the best part, one of the most beautiful I’ve ever seen. The staff were very friendly and attentive, and Las Calles is a pretty little town with lovely people. The place is far from everything, which makes it great for disconnecting. One thing to improve: the larger cabins could use an oven and a bigger refrigerator.
