Mensas Grand Hotel

The hotel isn’t in the town center, and I spent quite a bit on taxis. It takes about 30 minutes to walk into town, though I did that on my last day and felt very safe. I’d also arrange an airport shuttle, since the taxi ride is very expensive. In the apartment-style room, the staff were wonderful. Waldre, Francisco, Mattias and Laura were all lovely, and Waldre was especially attentive and a great example of good customer service.

It’s a long way from Puerto de Iguazú’s interesting spots, and getting downtown means passing through a neighborhood that didn’t feel very safe. It wasn’t worth the money. Our room had no sink or kitchen, and although it looked like a mini-apartment, its windows opened onto the corridors. There were four of us but towels for only two. We asked before heading out, but nothing had been done when we returned. The room wasn’t cleaned the next day because it had no “clean room please” sign for us to hang outside. On the plus side, the bearded receptionist was charming and nice. The buffet priced by weight was fairly affordable and changed a little each day, though outsiders could come in for dinner, which made it feel a bit dangerous.

The food was delicious, healthy, and affordable, and there was a great vegetarian option during my stay. We loved being here.

It was a lovely surprise to find this place. The staff were super friendly, our room was clean and comfortable, and breakfast was good. The buffet is clearly popular with locals, with fresh homemade food. It’s a shame it’s a bit outside the city center, but a five-minute taxi ride sorts that out.
