AltoParque Hotel

Ask for a room facing inward rather than the street. There's no balcony, but those rooms are quieter. The hotel sits on Avenida San Martín, across from Parque homónimo, about five blocks from the Teleférico and roughly the same distance from Plaza 9 de julio. Reception was excellent, always ready to help with any need or issue. The place is clean, the linens are high quality and spotless, and breakfast is generous, with plenty of hot drinks and baked goods.

The staff who looked after us were lovely, and the prices were very reasonable. We were close to everything we needed without being right in the center, which was only 4 or 5 blocks away. We had a really comfortable room with great beds and a fantastic bathroom, plus a balcony, TV, and wardrobes. I did notice a few loose electrical outlets, but I'm an electrician, so I tend to spot that kind of thing 😂. Breakfast and the service were very good. Maybe they could add fruit. We'll be back!

At 60,000 pesos a night, we stayed in better places for the same price on our trip. They should improve the hotel for that rate or bring the price down. The rooms feel old and need better ventilation or mosquito nets, while the windowless bathroom has no exhaust fan. They also provide shampoo but no conditioner. (Rats) The staff keep the place clean and dealt with our problem when one came up, though it's clear the owners haven't invested much. Breakfast had tasty croissants but not much variety, and the only teas were regular tea and yerba mate. Those rough little bar-style napkins barely clean anything. Parking costs an extra 10,000 pesos a day. On the upside, you can walk to the center or the cable car. Three stars, like the hotel rating.

Parking was one plus. I arrived late in the afternoon and the concierge was unfriendly. I'd paid for a quadruple room, but what we got was a triple with four beds, leaving no room to move around or put down my luggage. There was only a small closet.
