Las Rejas Hostel

Lourdes, who was on the day shift, went out of her way with recommendations and help. The staff were kind, and the place had a welcoming, family feel with travelers from all over. It was clean, well located, and a great price, with reception open 24 hours. I’d happily come back.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and our private room was comfortable with unusually good internet for a hostel. We stayed five days and nobody came to clean the room, though. The kitchen and common room are very basic and could use a decor update.

Bed bugs made this the worst hostel I’ve stayed in. After the night there, we had to pay for all our laundry ourselves, which is very expensive in Argentina. The owner offered no apology, help with the laundry costs, or refund for our stay. We asked several times to speak with them, but either got no reply or were told they were out. We only wanted an apology and maybe to discuss splitting some of the laundry bill. Looking at earlier comments, it seems bed bugs may be a recurring problem, and I didn’t feel it was being handled properly. I can’t say the hostel is being run to a good standard when the owners don’t seem to care about guests or cleanliness. Avoid it unless you’re willing to risk bed bugs and cover the laundry costs yourself.

The free breakfast was really good, and the place is central, with very friendly, helpful service. My one complaint is that smoking is allowed in the inner courtyard, and the smoke drifts into the rooms.
