The room was tidy, and the view of the night sky was lovely. I’d never had breakfast brought right to my hotel room before. The heater kept working through the night, though the air blowing out was a bit noisy.

The rooms are very basic, though at least they were clean. For what you pay, that’s about what you’d expect. The lake view, though, is awesome.

We had plenty of room for four people at Villa San Agustin, and the staff were always attentive and ready to help. The grounds are quite large, and everything was very clean. We’d happily stay there again.

The pool and barbecue area were fine, but over my five-night stay nobody cleaned the room, took out the trash, changed the towels, or did anything. Ants had built up beside the bed and were also getting into the bin for food scraps. The mattress had only a regular sheet instead of a cover, and it kept coming loose. The outlets were faulty, so I had to pull the charger cable taut to make it work. The kettle was broken, though still usable. Wi-Fi barely reached the room, and the cable kept cutting out. The payment problem on arrival was frustrating too. I’d paid half three months ahead, with the remaining balance subject to a price increase. The website showed an increase of $10,000, but Camilo, the manager, invoiced another $25,000 and could only say that was the balance. I finally called Angie myself, and she sorted it out. Mistakes happen, and I work providing services too, but the business should solve the problem for the customer instead of making them do it. One travel tip: when I got to Valle Fértil, a man handed me a card for trips. I added him on WhatsApp the following day and sent a message. Later, while I was walking in town, he stopped me in the street with his car to keep pitching his services. It felt a lot like being held up in the suburbs, and was a really bad experience. I kept looking and Camilo gave me the details for Hugo, who was very kind and gets my full recommendation. Watch the prices carefully, since they wanted to charge me a fortune to go to the parks.
