Hotel San Miguel

The cleaning staff were very kind and helpful when I needed toilet paper or fresh towels, and the location was excellent. But the bathroom and the lack of running water make this a place I won’t return to. What a shame. I’d stayed here last year, when it was at least manageable. This time there was no hot or cold water on the first day. They said it had been cut off because of a problem, but nobody warned us. I discovered it in the shower, and when water finally came back it was incredibly dirty. It was almost black every day, so I had to wash using 10L jugs. The shower filter was awful, spraying water everywhere, and what little came out was dirty. There was no shower drain, just an outlet behind the toilet. They’d put some kind of tiles along the side to stop the bathroom flooding, but it still flooded. The mattresses were terrible. I’d sit down and slide to one side, so my partner and I slept on the floor. The blankets in the cabinet were covered in dirt.

The staff were all so kind, and I loved how family friendly the place felt. We were right by everything: a cinema, a maxi kiosk, a pharmacy, supermercado carrera, and food places next door and across the street. It’s a block from the sea, with an excellent location. Room 209 faced the sea. Then, because of an electricity problem, they moved us to room 111, which was much bigger and looked out on the main street. We were comfortable and hoped to stay two more days. The two nights were really inexpensive alongside the tour we had, but work meant we couldn’t extend. I hope I can come back ✨🌅

The hotel was very clean and well located, with a delicious breakfast, but what really stood out was the owners’ kindness. My partner and I had accidentally booked and paid through the wrong platform. When we arrived in February 2026, they helped us sort it out and refunded the reservation, even though the rental website said it probably wouldn’t be honored. They were lifesavers. A perfect 10, and that human warmth means a lot. Highly recommended!

The staff were super friendly, and it was handy having a refrigerator and microwave we could use. The beach is just a block away, though downtown is a couple of blocks off and San Bernardo Avenue is quite a few blocks away. Please spend some money on better beds and showers 🙏🏻. Those were the worst five nights of my life.
