The garden was lovely, and the dog and cat were friendly and well behaved. Staff were welcoming and gave us lots of useful advice. It felt like an easy place to meet people, and we could walk to bars and restaurants nearby if we didn't feel like cooking. Our double room with a private bathroom was comfortable, though it got hot at night. Street parking felt very safe. Breakfast came with the stay; it wasn't great, but you can add your own things. The kitchen was clean and tidy, if a bit small, with little storage for guests. We only stayed one night and would have liked to stay longer. They offer tours, but we didn't try them, so I can't comment on those. I'd say it's a good place, and the owner and staff were very friendly.

The communal space was a nice touch, with a guitar, piano, and a back garden, and the decor was pleasant. The kitchen was okay. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the main guy spoke good English. The hostel is on a quiet road, about ten minutes' walk from the main square and five minutes from a supermarket. The bus station is around 3 km away, with a taxi costing about 70 pesos; I believe local buses stop around the corner too. We had a very small double room, and I don't think there are any en suites. The bed and pillow were really uncomfortable, and no towels were provided. There are just two bathrooms for the whole hostel, each with a shower and toilet, so expect to wait in the morning. Breakfast was included, though basic: tea, coffee, cereal, and pastries that weren't very good. It's an okay spot for a couple of nights, but after that you might wish for a more comfortable sleep and an easier bathroom routine.
