Breakfast was nice, with coffee, croissants, warm rolls, and jam. We had a lovely private room with a double bed. It was very clean, with a fairly large bathroom, plenty of heat, and a strong hot shower. The peaked timber ceiling gave it an airy feel.

Very poor service. I first called to ask about room availability and prices, then told the woman who answered I’d call back in five minutes after checking the location and price with my partner. I tried calling back repeatedly for at least two hours, sent an email to ask for a response, and got nothing. I gave up. After reading the lowest reviews, I understood why. I’m glad I didn’t book, and she never got back to me.

We ended up staying for a week because of a volcano eruption, and they were very accommodating. It’s a relaxing hostel, good value, in the beautiful town of San Martín.

The toilet wasn’t working properly, but otherwise it’s a great hostel for a good price, with nice staff and a nice kitchen.

Augustine is fantastic. He deserves a raise.
