The apartment was spacious and comfortable, and excellent. Breakfast is continental only.

We had a great time here. It felt welcoming and comfortable, and the staff were attentive. I also thought the place was very clean.

The building is in a good location, and the apartments have the basic equipment you need. But there were plenty of problems during our week there. The three air conditioners worked well, and the bathroom had good water pressure and ventilation, plus a hairdryer. Elsewhere, the Wi-Fi was slow and only reached the front door. There was just one TV, in the dining room, with poor cable reception and no smart features. There weren't TVs in the bedrooms. The bed in the master bedroom was very uncomfortable, with a worn-in hole in the mattress. The sheets weren't changed during the week, and the towels were replaced just once. Breakfast got monotonous fast. Cleaning wasn't great either: I found lint and soap wrappers under the beds. The garage was around the corner, uncovered, and its heavy gate had a rusty lock that was hard to close. Our car was left exposed to sun, rain, and hail. Some of the staff were lovely. Guille, the receptionist, warmly showed us the apartment and garage, and the people bringing breakfast each morning were polite and attentive. Abel, another receptionist, was rude to me, contradicted his coworkers, and insisted he was the most informed and that rooms weren't cleaned whenever guests wanted. The night before, rain had come in through the closed windows. Since there was nothing in the apartment, we asked the concierge for help, and perhaps that annoyed him. I also saw Abel raise his voice to an employee in front of other travelers. He never greeted anyone and was always on his phone.

The place is nice, the location is good, the reception staff were attentive, and both air conditioners worked fine. But I wouldn't recommend staying here. There was a cockroach problem around the tree outside. One day we saw two cockroaches over 5 cm long. And when I called about the garage, they told me it was covered. It turned out to be a high wall with big gates and no roof. Parking there was sweltering. On leaving, I noticed a plastic cover on the refrigerator was broken. I had only used the freezer and the top shelf to set down a water bottle, never the door shelf where bottles stand upright. I told reception. They called the cleaner, who said the cover was badly damaged and close to breaking. They still tried to charge me, but I flatly refused to pay for damage I hadn't caused, even if it cost $100. They said it hadn't been like that when I checked in, so I asked for dated, timed photos as proof. When I wouldn't pay, they said I had to explain it to the owner/manager and wait. I sat there for half an hour, then was told he was in a meeting and I should keep waiting indefinitely. I left without explaining it to him. They said he was supposedly at a traffic light three blocks away and about to arrive. I lost half an hour over something I hadn't done, and then lost more time on the road. Whoever was supposed to inspect the apartment after the previous guests left did a terrible job. The plastic sheet even said, "look but don't touch, and the fool pays the price." The only bad part of Tartagal was starting the trip with that frustration. Otherwise, it's a very beautiful place, and the people are very warm.
