I was happy enough in room 31 for a few days. It’s on the third floor, with no elevator, but was well kept and had a good view. The Wi-Fi worked, though it was slow and intermittent. This hotel probably has the lowest rates near the downtown piers, but the value really depends on which room you get. Then one day staff insisted I move to room 11 on the first floor, which was noticeably worse in every respect. Their explanation, that they had too many people and no room, made no sense when they were moving me from one twin room to another. The new room smelled bad, and the Wi-Fi barely worked. Staff were generally pleasant and helpful, but this was strange and irritating. I didn’t try breakfast, so can’t comment on it.

The rooms were filthy and uncomfortable, and I had to sleep in my jacket. I never even tried the shower because everything was so nasty. This place is a ruin and needs to be torn down and rebuilt. The owner’s office is beside first-floor room 00, and every night he shouted on the phone for hours without caring about the guests who’d paid to stay there. Speechless.

The location is superb, and there are cool views of the mountains and sea. The room also had a nice big fridge. It’s okay for one night, though a bit pricey for what it is. The place is dated, to put it mildly, and breakfast can be skipped, there’s nothing special about it.

The clerk raised the price by $4,000 pesos when we arrived, almost doubling it. The bed springs were broken, and the heating might as well have been off. Breakfast was cut off half an hour before it was supposed to end, which caught us by surprise. We found a place a little outside the city, not too far away, for almost half the price and a thousand times better. This place is an absolute s**thole. Wouldn’t recommend.
