Caballo de Fuego

The kitchen was a plus, with a long table, but the room was far too cramped for me. It had two sets of triple bunks, and on the top bunk there was only about 2 feet between my head and the ceiling, so I couldn’t sit up. We paid 20,000 Argentinian pesos per person, then were charged 12,000 pesos, or 30%, just to leave our bags for an hour. Elías was helpful, but that luggage charge was disappointing, so we went to find somewhere better. I wouldn’t recommend this hostel, especially if you’re tall.

The walks starting right outside the door were beautiful, and a free shuttle runs every half an hour to the city centre. Caballo de fuego has everything you need, and the shared spaces are cleaned daily. Gaby, Leo and their family are lovely hosts who made us feel welcome in their home and looked after us throughout our stay. Muchas gracias a toda la familia y suerte con vuestro proyecto! It’s cheap, the wifi is super fast at 30mbps symmetrical, and the basics work, including hot water and laundry service. The family are lovely and have opened their home to guests. There’s stuff and animals everywhere, so it can feel dirty and messy. Fine for a short stay if you don’t expect much.

They let me cancel my reservation for free at noon on the same day I booked, and were completely friendly about it. If I make it back to Ushuaia, I’ll definitely stay here.
