Canal Beagle Hotel

My main frustration wasn’t even losing the refund, it was being left waiting and feeling mocked while I tried to sort it out. The room from my first booking was available the entire time, and they still put me in that double room for my second reservation, which was for a triple. They never returned the difference either. I’d booked one night, 27-28 Nov, at Beagle a week before my stay. Two days later my plans shifted, so I booked again for 28-1, arriving in Ushuaia a day later, and asked for the first booking to be refunded. It was marked non refundable on booking, but I hoped they might be flexible since I was still staying 4 nights. After several messages in the booking chat, they replied 4 days later to say no. I was disappointed, but thought I might work it out face to face. I arrived in Ushuaia on the morning of Nov 28 and raised it at the front desk. The representative said a refund could be issued, but I needed to call booking and have them contact Beagle by phone or email. I made the international call, which cost $15. Booking tried Beagle with no answer and then emailed them. When I went back that afternoon, I was told the "reservation office" staff were out, since they work 12-2pm (lol). That started a whole odyssey. They gave me the reservation office number to text, but nobody replied. I asked to meet a representative the next day and was told 9am. I waited an hour in the lobby and nobody came. Calling the office got no answer either. I messaged on whatsapp again during work hours and got an automated reply, even though it was sent during work hours and their last seen was later, so it seemed like they were ignoring me on purpose. After 4 days of trying, I finally met someone, who wasn’t even from the reservation office, and was told they couldn’t refund me. There are plenty of other 4 stars with spa in Ushuaia. If you don’t want to feel mocked or waste holiday time, I’d suggest another place. Beagle management, I’ve never seen a hotel where the front desk can’t handle reservations and a separate office does it. I never met anyone from that office, so either they don’t work and should all be fired, or I was lied to and no "reservation office" exists. The front desk could have handled the request but didn’t, for whatever reason.

The rooms were okay, but the customer service was terrible. The front desk guy, Leonardo, had awful people skills and insulted guests who were there for an Antartica Expedition. We were there for Quark Expedition, and I hope they choose a different hotel. In any case, I wouldn’t stay here. Based on this experience, Argentina won’t be a country I visit twice, and I’d tell people to visit a different country.

The bed was comfortable and the location is central, but the rooms are barebones, with no slippers, kettle or even cups. The renovated rooms had "new" fittings that weren’t installed properly and are already falling apart. My bathroom faucet would wobble with the slightest touch, and there’s zero soundproofing. Calling this a 4-star hotel is a joke. I’ve stayed in better hostels for a fraction of the price.

The breakfast was terrible, and the room I got for the extra few days was tiny, at the back alley, and came with nothing. I was traveling with Quark and extended my stay, but I wouldn’t choose this place on my own. The facilities don’t justify the price.
