Rio Negro Loft

The fleas and the owner made this a horrible experience. Upstairs, old carpets smelled foul and were infested with fleas. They were everywhere, even in the bidet. The sofas were filthy, and there was no mop or anything else to clean with. The vacuum was broken, the hair dryer barely worked, and the stair railing was in bad shape and seemed ready to break. She never changed the sheets during our 9 days there. She messaged us every day, including at 2 AM, which felt like harassment, and kept trying to bring strangers into the house. When we complained about the sheets, she kicked us out the day before our stay ended and tried to keep some of our money. The internet was working fine, but she still wanted to bring technicians in, and I don’t know why since I hadn’t reported a problem. A disaster. Don’t go!!! I’m sharing this so others don’t have to go through the same awful experience. Luckily, I’ll never go back.

Maria, the host, was attentive to everything and a gem. The apartment is spacious, and the price for what you get is excellent. Its best feature is the location, just a few blocks from everything. There are three bedrooms and two bathrooms on the second floor. It’s well equipped, with a capsule coffee machine, a TV with Wi-Fi and premium soccer channels, toilet paper in the bathroom, and a grill on the terrace. I stayed with children, though, and the staircase is a bit dangerous. There’s also a glass display case in the middle of the dining room, and the microwave needs replacing because it doesn’t work.

We stayed in July 2023, two adults and two children. Booking.com had the reservation down for only two adults, but it was fine once I paid the difference for the children. We liked the place, and my negative comments are only about its condition. The rooms are spacious and modern, with good heating, comfortable beds, and a fully equipped kitchen. It’s centrally located. On the downside, the living room laminate is in poor shape, both bathroom screens are broken, and the paint needs maintenance. The kitchen ceiling vent is covered with paper. The living room roller blinds leave gaps that reduce privacy, and there’s carpet in the bedrooms. The stairs are dangerous, with short steps, so you can have a bad time if you don’t place your feet carefully.

Marita, the lady who helped us, was very nice. The apartments are comfortable and spacious, with everything you need. Excellent place!
