Hotel El Condado

The hotel is family-run and quiet, and the staff were extremely friendly. Thank you, EBON! Breakfast and dinner were delicious, with a good range of food. It’s right by the river where the lake starts, and has one of the best locations in the city. There’s parking on site, though they could use more covered spaces. The pool and some rooms need more upkeep. Still, it’s a good place close to everything, highly recommended for families, and pets are welcome too.

The staff deserve a special mention for being so friendly, helpful, and attentive throughout. I stayed over the Carnival holiday and had a really enjoyable time. The hotel was comfortable, and its location and services made it a great place to relax and enjoy myself. I’d gladly return and highly recommend it for the warm hospitality and comfort.

The staff were friendly the whole time and handled any problems well, always finding solutions. The location is excellent, two blocks from the Cuckoo Clock and four or five from the center, with plenty of parking inside. There are few covered spaces, but that didn’t bother us. The pool bar had varied food and drinks, with great music and service. The three pools included a deeper one, a shallow one for kids or chatting, and a small covered heated pool. The water was VERY clean, without a strong chlorine smell or cloudiness. Our family room was comfortable, with air conditioning, good closets, a working TV, and no musty smell. The bathrooms were good, with hot water and towels. Breakfast was varied and replenished often: cakes, breads, jams and spreads, fruit, croissants, ham and cheese, scrambled eggs, cereal, plus coffee, milk, tea, hot water, juice, cold water, and yogurt. The orange juice was awful, though, and the disposable spoons and washed, wet disposable juice cups were unpleasant. There are some things they should improve. The mattresses on the double bed were VERY worn out. I woke with a stiff neck after the first night and terrible back pain after the second. We asked, they changed the mattress, and then we could finally rest. We chose this hotel partly for its extras because rain was forecast, but the pool and shuffleboard games cost tokens you have to buy there, which isn’t specified. The large dining room was only open for breakfast or lunch if ordered hours ahead, so we couldn’t use it to play cards and there wasn’t another place to do that. Half the pool loungers were misaligned and could scrape you, and they were FILTHY with bird droppings. The elevator doors were stained and the elevator was quite dirty. The air conditioning cooled well, but in room 305 it got so noisy that sleeping became unbearable.

Room 3 at Hotel El Condado was dark and noisy, and I wouldn’t recommend it. It felt like a bunker, with the only window looking straight at the hot water equipment, so there was no natural light and the view was industrial and depressing. People were also constantly in the room. Rest was difficult because the heated pool made constant noise for much of the night. Cleaning was nearly nonexistent: staff came just once, and that was only a cursory clean. Basic upkeep during a hotel stay shouldn’t be missing like that. The experience was dark, loud, and poorly serviced, and I won’t repeat it. The room didn’t match the photos on the website.
