Hotel Walkirias

The location is handy, close to both the center and the beach. The staff were excellent, especially the receptionist and the two men handling breakfast and other services. Beyond that, there are quite a few things that need work. The rooms are passable, but the mattress and pillows aren't comfortable, and the Wi-Fi kept cutting out. The pool isn't heated, and after two rainy days the cold water made it unusable. Noise was another problem: there was no real quiet time, with dining room noise continuing until at least midnight, then loud music during breakfast setup at 7 AM or earlier. Maintenance is basic, and breakfast, while tasty, is basic too. Several things need improvement.

The pool was clean, but COLD (DON'T FOOL PEOPLE). I like using a pool when the beach weather isn't good or it's cool, and I only got in once. Breakfast and dinner were excellent, though the drinks were very expensive. A chalkboard with the daily menu would save people from having to ask. Everyone was friendly, and when we had issues with the TV remote and the single mattress, they took care of both right away. I'd return!

The rooms are simple, but we had a comfortable bed, a hot shower, and air conditioning that worked great. The location is perfect, too. What really made the stay, though, was how kind and accommodating everyone was. We'd had a rough experience at another hotel, and the staff made us feel welcome. We had an excellent stay at Hotel Wakiria and would come back.

The food was very good, and the chef deserves a mention. Hugo was friendly, helpful, fun, and interesting, and made us feel comfortable. The place is in an outstanding spot, just two blocks from the beach and one from the pedestrian area. The price feels in line with the quality. I highly recommend it.
