The peaceful mountain views and gardens make El Castillo de Mandl a lovely place to relax and find inspiration. This striking historic mansion in La Cumbre, Argentina, combines European elegance with its early 20th-century architecture and lush grounds. It was once a retreat for notable figures, and today visitors can get a glimpse of the region’s history and culture in a setting with panoramic vistas.

Guillermo, Carola, and all their children made us feel right at home with their warm welcome. The homemade breakfast was delicious, and getting there was easy, with only a short stretch of unpaved road. If you enjoy historic places and the little details, this is a place you should stay. The castle’s decor is exquisite, with breathtaking views and plenty of spots to sit and take in the surroundings.

We loved ending the evening with drinks and a game of pool, and the homemade breakfast is a must, especially the scones. The family who runs the place is friendly and attentive. Every corner brings the past to life for anyone who enjoys history, and the view is the best in La Cumbre!

I haven’t been to the property, and sadly I suspect I’ll never get the chance because it’s beyond my means. Still, I’m giving it five stars because it’s outrageous to see so many negative reviews just because tourists can’t go inside. People claim they’re entering to “ask for information for a future reservation.” Really, aren’t they embarrassed to keep using the same basic lie? There’s so much information online now, with so many resources and platforms. This isn’t an apartment on the Buenos Aires coast where you can’t tell if it exists, if you’ve been scammed, or if the photos are real. Someone paid a lot to buy this property, maintain it, and renovate it as tourist accommodation. Guests are also paying a lot to stay there and have privacy. Why should anyone be allowed in to take photos and bother them? No wonder Argentine tourists make such a bad impression abroad when they act so arrogant and rude.

I’ll take my money elsewhere. I only wanted to look around and ask about booking for a future visit, but they told me to leave because visitors without a reservation couldn’t enter. There wasn’t even a sign explaining that. They were incredibly rude, and the whole thing came across as elitist. Too bad for them.
