We spent New Year's Eve at this hotel, and the food was so poor that I ended up eating in the room. The waiters were very rude and took our food off the table before we had finished, without asking, just so they could clear the tables as quickly as possible. The rooms were disappointing too. It was the first hotel where I didn't have a minibar in the room or bathrobes for the pool.

The pool is really nice, and the hotel has a lovely atmosphere, just right for this part of the world. Restaurant food is fresh and high quality, and breakfast tastes great too. There aren't many options for people with food intolerances, allergies, or special diets, though. Our room was large and had an amazing mountain view, but it was quite basic. We missed having a kettle for coffee or tea, basic toiletries like shower gel or shampoo, and a small fridge, all of which seem pretty standard for a 4-star hotel.

Not the warmest welcome to town on our first night. We arrived at this hotel's restaurant 20 minutes before the kitchen was due to close. One server told us, "Sorry, the kitchen is closed," and as her female colleague walked past, she curtly said, "Zu spät". This review is about that abrupt comment.

We ate at the restaurant twice. On the first visit, I walked in, sat down, and ordered a beer and soup directly from someone who served us. I believe he was the owner. He said, "First, let's order drinks and then food." If he couldn't take the order right then, he could at least have told us politely. The soup was okay, but I've had better in Abtenau. We'd booked for New Year's Eve, and that time Serbian and Slovakian staff took our orders. They were very polite and nice. The mixed platter for two wasn't good at all. I'd say the staff were okay overall, but the food wasn't very good, or perhaps we're just not used to such oily, heavy meat.
