Gästehaus Weiherhof

We woke to an amazing breakfast downstairs, and the keepers were super nice. The accommodations were very nice, with a fantastic view, and there’s a small town with restaurants close by. A fantastic experience.

Even though we were only passing through for one night, the host did everything possible to meet our needs. The beautiful, spacious rooms were really cosy, and the atmosphere made the whole experience wonderful for me. I honestly can’t think of anything that could have been better.

Breakfast was plentiful and beautifully presented. We chose the vegan selection, and many people who aren’t hotel guests apparently come just for breakfast. We stayed at the Hotel Weiherhof in Alpbach for 3 nights in a spacious three-room suite, cosy in chalet style and equipped with everything we needed and more. The hospitality was thoughtful and gracious throughout. The hotel is a little downhill from the main bus station in Alpbach and one stop before it, so we walked downhill with our suitcases on arrival and departure; it was manageable. From the windows and balconies, we saw either the nearby forest or, somehow, more distant meadows and snow-capped mountains beyond the road.

The staff were so friendly and made us feel at home. I’m still thinking about that fantastic breakfast weeks later, and the cozy rooms have lovely Austrian charm. Having a balcony was a really nice touch.
