Gasthof Jakober

The food at Jakober is tasty, traditional, and simple, with generous portions. There are lighter dishes and good vegetarian choices too, plus Austrian wines, local schnapps, and good beer. Prices seem reasonable given the quality, especially when Alpbach gets busy and expensive in high season. Service is friendly and quick, and even when it's crowded the staff keep things moving with a smile. Right in the heart of Alpbach, close to the main square, hotels, and conference venues, Jakober can turn into a lively meeting spot during the European Forum. You might share a table with students, academics, or policymakers, and can settle in for a meal or a beer after discussions. The wood, flowers, and alpine character give the building a cosy, rustic feel, and locals and visitors mingle naturally. Whether you're here for the Forum, skiing, or just passing through the valley, it's worth a stop. For me, places like this are part of what makes Alpbach special.

We found the accommodation really welcoming, and the village is so picturesque. We'd love to return and see it in summer.

We stayed at the Jakober for a second time, and it was fantastic all round again. The service and food were amazing, and they run a really tight ship. The rooms are just right for a ski break.

The location is perfect, right in the middle of the village, and breakfast is yummy too. The rooms are clean and comfy, and the staff are so welcoming and helpful. Couldn't ask for a better place to stay, and I can't recommend the Jakober enough!
