Haus Thomas

Alpbach is so beautiful, and this is a great place to stay. The host was great too. I truly recommend it!

The view was absolutely breathtaking, and the New Year's Eve fireworks looked fantastic from there. The owner was friendly and accommodating, and even picked us up with our luggage in the village center because you can't drive or park in front of the house. The hill up to it is very steep, so it's not suitable for people with mobility issues. Our newly renovated room was incredibly cozy, though somewhat small, which is a minor complaint. Breakfast was delicious and had everything you could want.

From the hillside, we could see most of the snow-covered village, with fantastic ski runs on the snowy mountains opposite. It was the most beautiful winter scenery I've ever seen. I drove from Munich, Germany to Alpbach in mid-December 2019 and stayed at Thomas B&B. Thomas took care of breakfast. The place was like a warm, comfortable Austrian-style wooden cabin, right down to the red armchair by the entrance.

The quiet in the house and garden was so soothing. Our ground-floor apartment was spacious at 40 square meters, very clean, and full of light thanks to the many windows in the living and dining area with kitchenette. It opened onto a lovely garden with a wonderful view of the alpine pastures and mountains opposite. There were several places to sit in sun or shade, plus a sunshade. Ludwig (Luggi) Schwarzenauer was a fantastic host, always attentive, approachable, and friendly. The access road is very steep, with no parking or turning area, so we were asked to wait for 2-3 minutes in a village parking lot when we arrived. Our host met us there and helped with our luggage. It all went smoothly. The double bed mattresses felt medium-firm to soft, about a 3 on a 1 to 4 scale. Breakfast was generous, with several types of rolls, plenty of cold cuts and cheeses, jams, fresh fruit every day, butter, eggs, yogurt, and fruit juice, all nicely presented. We also received the Alpbachtal Card, which let us use the mountain lifts, among other things. We stayed at Haus Thomas for five nights and felt very comfortable. Dear Luggi, thanks to you and your sister for a wonderful short break and pleasant conversations. We look forward to seeing you again.
