Haus Lanner

We spent a week in a spacious top-floor apartment and really enjoyed it. The Owner welcomed us at the door, showed us around and gave us two sets of keys. There was plenty of room, with a large living area and kitchen plus a separate bedroom, and decent storage for clothes and other things. Both rooms had fairly new, good-sized TVs. We could watch local channels or connect our own devices to stream. The wifi was good for streaming and for getting some work done, even over VPN. The kitchen was among the best equipped I’ve seen in a typical holiday apartment. It had all the utensils and pans we needed, plus a better selection of plates, bowls and glasses than usual. It was nice to have beer glasses, wine glasses and dedicated flutes for sparkling Schlumberger, instead of making do with one type of glass or bathroom cups. The ski room had lots of space for equipment and its cases. The boot hanger and dryer was warm, but not too hot, which matters for keeping boots in good shape. The house is set back from the main road, so it was quiet, and I suspect it’s well insulated too. I slept soundly every night, with no street noise or even a highway hum, despite the highway not being very far away. The location made it easy to get around Altenmarkt on foot. There are small supermarkets, a couple of restaurants and cafes, sports and alpine gear shops along the main street, and the Amade thermal water park is just around the corner. We didn’t use the car in town. The ski bus stops are also very close. If I had to mention drawbacks, the stairs to the top floor were a bit narrow, which might be awkward with large suitcases when moving in or out. And checkout at 10 am is painfully early, though that seems to be an Austria thing. I’d gladly stay again, and this would be my first choice next time I visit Altenmarkt.
