Huttenzauber 3 Comfortable Holiday Residence

Our caretaker was there to welcome us when we arrived and took care of us throughout the week. We stayed at the Alpine Chalet "Hüttenzauber 4" with five families spanning three generations, and the setup worked really well. There was a well-equipped kitchen, a big dining table and living room, plus a sauna, terrace, playground, and other comforts. Being so close to the ski slopes was ideal. We’re already looking forward to coming back.

The house itself is nice, but several things made the stay frustrating. We arrived on Saturday with one roll of toilet paper for 16 people, and the nearest shop, 15 km away, was already closed. When I emailed the landlord, the response was, "We'll manage with the available resources." Dishwasher detergent and toilet paper weren’t supplied. There were no towels either, though bed linen was provided. The two upstairs rooms share a bathroom, and because they’re in the attic they got so hot during the day that sleeping well was difficult. The windows only tilt, since opening them fully would put them over the beds. The house seemed not to have been rented for a while: there were cobwebs and dead flies throughout. With rent this high, I’d expect a proper cleaning. The bathroom was supposed to have a hairdryer according to the online listing, but we couldn’t find one. There was also a grill, though it looked like the previous guest had left it uncleaned, and there was no charcoal.

The house is nicely furnished, the owners were really friendly, and the location made it easy to reach Salzburg and other sights for day trips. We stayed at Hüttenzauber 3 in October. It’s joined to 4. We came back in 2023, and the house was as described before. This time the Wi-Fi was out, though. I sent a WhatsApp message and called, but nothing was done. That’s a real hassle when you sometimes need internet for work.

Our two families, across three generations, had a lovely ski holiday at Hüttenzauber. The caretaker gave us a warm welcome, was helpful, and shared ideas for things to do. There’s plenty here beyond the home comforts, including a sauna, garden, and playground. We’d definitely come back, and would recommend it.
