The owner welcomed us, showed us around the guesthouse and rooms, and sorted out breakfast with us. Throughout the stay we felt like we were visiting friends. Everything was genuinely clean, the rooms included, to the point that some luxury hotels could learn from it. The rooms are small, but that worked fine for us since we spent our days exploring the area. Each has a terrace where we could sit with coffee and listen to the nearby cattle bells. Nights were quiet and sleep was undisturbed, then breakfast was relaxed, with more than enough of what we needed. This family guesthouse is exactly the sort of place we look for when travelling: beautiful and very quiet, surrounded by nature, with a few cows, cats, and a lovely dog. It really has that peaceful Austrian Alps feel. We were absolutely thrilled with the accommodation, and since we plan to visit more places in the Alps, we’ll be happy to stay here again. It made our time there very pleasant.

The location is in a beautiful area, close to the Zauchensee ski paradise, but our stay had several problems. I paid 450 Euros for three nights and wasn’t given any payment document. The furniture was old, the bed linen was faded, and there was no sheet, just a protective mattress. The owner is strict. She locks the entrance and ski storage at 8 pm. The breakfast room you pass through to reach the rooms is also the family’s living room, where they watch TV, and they live on the ground floor. Shoes have to be left by the entrance. In the morning the ski storage only opens after breakfast preparations are finished. I had a hard time getting her to open it. After asking and getting no response, I knocked on the door; she came down from inside. This was very unpleasant when I was in a hurry for a competition.

The apartment was cleaned every day, and both the television and Wi-Fi worked well throughout. Breakfast was excellent and plentiful. The landlords were very nice, and the landlady was always available and ready to help, including with useful tips about local attractions. We had a wonderful, very pleasant stay and would gladly return.

It was wonderfully peaceful here, and the house itself is beautiful. The owners were helpful, so I’d highly recommend the accommodation. There’s no public lighting, which means it’s pitch black at night and easy to sleep well. We parked in front of the house and kept our bikes in the basement.
