The rooms are cramped, the beds are hard as bricks, and the old bedding has scratchy sheets. The handful of staff were rude and unfriendly, in my experience, and seemed completely unsuited to hospitality. If you're staying on the outskirts of Vienna, I'd avoid Das Steinberger. I wouldn't recommend the Boulderman tours either, since this is where they put you up. Stay away from both. I would give the hotel minus one if I could. I can't think of anything that redeems it, and would advise staying somewhere else.

The food was great, and the service was really good, so I'd recommend eating here. I wouldn't book a room, though. Mine was awful, messy and unfinished, with exposed plug sockets that seemed dangerous. The bathroom window looked straight onto breeze blocks, and the bath and shower were filthy. There were squashed bugs on the walls and insects everywhere. The walls are paper thin, so you hear exactly what's happening next door and downstairs. The place looks nothing like the photos.

Handy for a night on the A1, and reasonably priced. The rooms are more spacious than at most highway hotels, and dogs are welcome.

The host was lovely, and the apartment was clean and cosy. We had a nice stay, with a little terrace outside for morning coffee.

I was here for a two-day business meeting. The staff were friendly, though service was limited. On the first day there was plenty of food, but it was all overcooked, from mushy vegetables to dried-out meat. The next day, the food ran out within minutes and wasn't replenished during our one-hour break. Staff said they'd already told the kitchen. Some electrical sockets didn't work, the toilets smelled odd, and mosquitoes were everywhere. In a rural area like this, the least they could do is put screens on the doors and windows.
