Hotel Zum Hirschen

We were a table of seven, children included, and the staff made us feel welcome and looked after us brilliantly throughout dinner. The head waiter from Romania and his colleague from Greece deserve a special mention: both were friendly and attentive with drinks, and gave us excellent wine and starter suggestions. We booked a few days ahead by stopping in to talk with the staff and read the menu in several languages, and it all went smoothly. The Weiner schnitzel with potato salad was the best we had in Zell. Our family also enjoyed the chef’s choice starter, boiled beef, roasted potatoes with whipped spinach, cheese fondues and prawn tagliatelle. It was a wonderful traditional Austrian meal at the Hotel Zum Hirshen, a lovely end to a fantastic family holiday in ZellAmSee. Warm atmosphere, and head downstairs if you fancy some apres ski. It’s in a central spot, about two minutes on foot from the central station and five from the cable car. There’s also a personal locker for ski gear outside the hotel. The rooms are spacious and the hotel feels homely, though they could use more lighting. Breakfast is generous and delicious, and the restaurant has a good, varied menu. The spa needs an upgrade.

Flori was there for us throughout the stay, and I want to thank him for being so kind, noble and exceptionally respectful. The hotel was spotless, with a cozy atmosphere and a very spacious, extremely comfortable room. It’s right in the center, close to the ski shuttle, with a grocery store 100 meters away and ski rental just 30 meters from the hotel. We felt very welcome and had a truly excellent stay. We’d highly recommend it.

Breakfast came with the stay, and there was a ski room for our gear. The staff were lovely, and we were close to the slopes right in the center of the village. Zum Hirschen was a pleasant place to stay, and we’d come back.
