MONDI Hotel Axams

We liked it so much that we extended our stay. The studio and its mini kitchen are cleverly designed, and the rooms have a cosy, modern feel, with new shelving alongside freshly painted, high-quality furniture. The beds, towels, and breakfast buffet were excellent, and Herr Peter was wonderfully friendly. The chef seemed under pressure and sometimes forgot how to interact professionally with guests. She reminded us of Basil in Fawlty Towers. We hope she can relax soon and enjoy the amazing view at the front of the hotel.

The views of the snow-capped mountains from the balcony were what I loved most. The hotel is in Axams, a small suburb on the outskirts of Innsbruck, surrounded by spectacular Alpine scenery. It’s a beautiful four-star heritage hotel converted from an old building. The rooms are spacious, though their worn look adds to the ascetic feel. There’s a fully equipped kitchen with an induction cooktop, sink, utensils, and cutlery, but, like many European hotels, the bed is very tiny. Breakfast was huge, with breads, croissants, cakes, pies, cheese, fruit, tea, coffee, and juices. I ate very well!

The lovely setting makes this a good place to stay while visiting the Innsbruck region. The rooms are pleasant, and I’ll remember the staff most for being so friendly and helpful.

Dirty rooms and bedsheets, outdated facilities, and an empty restaurant with no atmosphere. The food quality was McDonalds at best. We couldn’t understand how this awful hotel got a four-star rating. Avoid it at all costs!
