Hotel OTP Birkenhof

We had a fantastic week as a family of four, with our two kids in their late teens. The helpful, polite staff, facilities, venue and marvellous food all worked out really well, and even the weather cooperated. It was a proper recharge and may have kicked off a new winter sports adventure for us. A couple of thoughts: the heating was too strong. Even with the radiators at the lowest suggested setting, 2 on the manual dial, and the windows open all night, it was -18 Celsius outside and the room was still 21 Celsius in the morning, about the upper limit for sleeping comfortably. A little less heat would help. Also, when there are vegetarian dishes on the buffet, it would be more intuitive to put them together in their own section, regardless of course or food type. That would make the options easier to find and show more confidence in dietary choices.

Every kind of delight seems to be on hand, and wishes are taken care of without you having to ask. The luxury here is understated from the outside.

The beds are firm, just how I like them, and the staff were awesome, friendly and really helpful. There was plenty of fish on the menu, but I could always find something else to eat.

We loved our stay and are already thinking about coming back. The hotel is beautiful, everything feels new and it was very clean. Our room was comfortable, and we really enjoyed the balcony and its countryside view. We booked half board and went for a swim before dinner. The pool was large and clean, with enough room to do laps, and the hot tub was lovely. There are also steam and sauna rooms. Dinner was five courses, with an extra charge, and every course was fresh, hot, full of flavor and really good. My husband loved the venison with blueberry sauce, while I was keen on the fish with gnocchi. We had a great evening at the bowling alley, too. Breakfast the next morning had a lot to choose from: eggs, chicken wings, sliced meat and cheese, fruit, nuts, cereal, juices and a great coffee machine. We also found a book of free event cards included in our room cost. We chose the gondola ride to the top of the mountain, which was awesome and we highly recommend it.
