Friendly staff and great service.

I came home from the GVA (Gemeinschaftskrankenhaus, or Community Hospital) feeling like my stay at the Königsberg Health Resort had given me a real start toward healthier everyday habits. It's harder to fit in exercise and sleep at home than it was in Bad Schönau, and I miss the big salad buffet and working out on the exercise bike with that fantastic view. Still, I'm grateful this kind of preventative care is available. My first retreat, from October 7th to 28th, 2025, was a complete success, and I really enjoyed it. My focus was Exercise optimization. Each day included 3-4 treatments and therapies, always with friendly, knowledgeable guidance. There was also plenty of time for my own activities in the gently rolling autumn landscape. You could rent (E-)bikes at reception for a fee, or borrow walking sticks for free. I could also swim laps, relax, or read. Evenings regularly included (dance) events. I chose a double room for an additional charge so my husband could visit on weekends. It was in the so-called Park Hotel, spacious, with a nice bathroom and shower, a separate toilet, and a sunny balcony. The food was excellent. At lunch and dinner there were three main courses to choose from each day, along with soup and dessert. The breakfast buffet had a wide range of pastries. The meals were beautifully presented and served by friendly, attentive waiters and waitresses. The portions weren't huge, but they were just right for me.

My GVA (health cure) at the Königsberg Bad Schönau health resort, from September 23, 2025, to October 14, 2025, left me feeling rested and completely at home. It was a treatment for body, mind, and soul. I was especially pleased by how many therapies were on offer, a choice you don't find at every spa hotel. The therapists were top-notch, and every staff member was friendly, helpful, and courteous. The hotel is a little dated, but it's being renovated regularly. My room and the whole property were clean and tidy. Food was excellent and varied, with three lunch and dinner menus to choose from every day, and a remarkable salad buffet. Anyone criticizing the meals should remember that spa stays naturally focus on healthy eating. I can't see how people can complain about the food when they may not eat such a range of healthy, freshly cooked meals at home each day. That seems like a lot of whining. A little gratitude and contentment? The pools were free to use, unlike at some other spa hotels. There were also free line-dancing classes and singing evenings, plus Monday dances with live music. Books, board games, cards, and other things were available to rent. Guests could use a small fitness room and two exercise bikes for free. And a quick thought for people who wrote the earlier, somewhat negative reviews as spa or rehabilitation guests: we should be grateful that the PVA covers part of the cost of a stay like this. A private one-week stay with a few therapies costs €1,100, as in the current fall offer, for example.

I spent six weeks here for rehabilitation. The medical team was available, and the nurses' station was staffed around the clock. Everyone there was accommodating and truly empathetic. My therapists were excellent, whether for individual, group, or occupational therapy, and the dietician and other therapists were empathetic too. I was disappointed that some people who didn't get along with their assigned individual therapist couldn't switch, since getting on with your therapist matters therapeutically. A few kinds of therapy stressed me more than they helped, though you can take a break if you're not feeling well. I won't name them because that was just my personal experience. The spa area had a steam room I really liked, though the pool water was too cold for me. I didn't try the infrared cabin. The sauna area was nice, but the women's section was closed because of water damage. They could easily have had a women's day in the mixed section at least once a week. The Therarama was a good size and functional. Meals were sometimes rushed: on some days therapy went until noon, leaving only 30 minutes to eat. That was enough time, but not enough for a relaxed meal. The food was always very good except once, and the desserts were always far too good :-) You could borrow games from reception anytime. At reception, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. They brought my luggage to my room, which was a big help since I had my first doctor's appointments on day one. The cleaning staff were always friendly, even when busy, such as during check-outs. My room had a comfortable mattress with just the right firmness for me, and the bed linens were changed weekly and felt lovely and soft. The pillow was very soft, but I had brought my own. The mattress was small, though. Moving from a double bed at home to a single bed took some getting used to, and there wasn't room for a side sleeper pillow, so I had to go without one. The television was right by the bed and could be turned toward it. My armchair was uncomfortable, unlike the much bigger, more comfortable ones in other rooms. It was probably meant as a last resort, since the same chairs are in the passageway to the Park Hotel. Most rooms have carpet, which wasn't ideal with my reported allergy. The furniture was dated but well kept, and the lamps and curtains made me think of my grandparents' house. The wardrobe was tiny for a six-week stay, though it had plenty of hangers. There was a drawer under the bed and a chest of drawers with a safe where I could store clothes, but then there was no room for anything else. The desk became a storage spot for things that wouldn't fit in the dresser because of my clothes. The bathroom was a good size, but a cabinet for things like a toothbrush would have been useful. It could have gone next to the toilet, but I kept my things in the wardrobe. The shower was spacious and really great. Shower gel, shampoo, and liquid soap were provided. There was one bath towel and one hand towel each week, and extra changes cost more. I thought the fee was high, so I brought my own towels from home. I had my own hairdryer and didn't try the one provided. The Wi-Fi was a bit weak. I'd love to return!

We're here for a three-week spa stay and have been very happy with the room, the lovely setting, the excellent food, and the staff, who are consistently friendly and helpful. The therapy schedule works well too. We get 3-4 treatments a day, which doesn't feel overwhelming and still leaves time to relax. The café/restaurant just past reception is the one letdown. Prices are exorbitant: a small beer is €4.70, a spritzer €3.80, a small coffee €3.40, and a basic 1/8 liter red wine €4.50. This isn't a top-rated restaurant. As a result, we hardly buy anything there and prefer to have private drinks. Several other spa guests have said the same. If each drink cost €1 less, people would buy a lot more, and the prices would still be high enough. The staff there are very nice, though.
