Heilthermen Resort Bad Waltersdorf

The Hungarian staff were the kindest and most helpful people there. They were the only ones we could rely on for explanations, since we often couldn't understand what things meant. Communication was difficult throughout: most staff spoke little or no English, and the hotel offered almost nothing in English. The restaurant menu and the program brochure weren't translated either. At check-in, nobody told us about the welcome drink, New Year's Eve events, or activities during our stay. We also had to ask for bathrobes instead of being offered them. The hotel itself is beautiful and mostly renovated. The restaurant area still looks dated, though. I booked because of the many positive reviews, but our actual stay didn't match them. The hotel seems geared mainly toward older guests, and beyond the wellness area there wasn't other entertainment, so I wouldn't recommend it to young couples. New Year's Eve dinner was a disaster. I'd told the hotel ahead of time that I was pregnant, but there were hardly any suitable dishes for me. The set menu took almost four hours to arrive, which was unacceptable. A buffet would have made more sense on such a busy night, and we weren't the only guests who were clearly disappointed. I also wish there had been a coffee machine or at least tea-making things in the room. The minibar had just two bottles of water, which felt too little for a hotel at this level.
