Hotel der Wolkensteinbär

The activities and excursions were especially well planned. I rarely join trips that have been thought through so well, and everyone from reception and the waiters to the activities team was extra friendly and went out of their way to improve our stay. We had an excellent family trip with my wife and our three small children. Having everything included gave us that lovely carefree feeling, as I clearly can't put it poetically. We'd come back, maybe in winter for a ski holiday.

The buffet was about what you'd expect from a three-star place, with basic food and not much choice. When someone working there heard our complaint that the schnitzel was barely edible, he picked it up, ate it, then spat it back onto their plate. The room was very basic for six people, really just somewhere to sleep. It didn't have the basics you'd expect, like shampoo, soap, or even tea.

Breakfast and dinner were both great, with plenty of buffet choices, and the rooms were clean and cosy. The staff were really friendly and accommodating. I had a great time here on a company ski trip, and when I accidentally left a piece of luggage behind, they went out of their way to help me get it back.

The food was decent, with a great variety, and the ski lifts are about a seven-minute walk away. It's a good deal for parents with kids, who have plenty to do, including the pool, ping-pong, drawing, and football. Most guests seemed to speak German, with only a few non-German speakers.
