Hotel Messmer

The rooms are comfortable and nicely decorated, and I’d recommend the restaurant too. It’s right in the city center, so everything is an easy walk, and there’s parking in the basement.

The hotel worked well for us, and we’d stay again. It’s close to lots of activities, right by the train line, about a five minute walk from the Pfander mountain cable car, and essentially across the street from the lake. The room was clean and spacious, breakfast had enough options to suit anyone, and the check-in and check-out staff were very friendly and helpful. The little drawbacks were the very flat pillows, which I found uncomfortable, and the small garage, where getting into a space can be tricky. It’s expensive, though no more so than other hotels around there, and we didn’t think it was great value for what we paid. Still, the positives were strong enough that we’d choose it again.

Breakfast was very basic and below the standard I expected. The location was excellent, and check-in was quick and smooth. The room was an acceptable size, but the bathroom had a very unpleasant smell, like urine. The room was also very warm. The hotel staff had turned off the air conditioning, and the front desk first told me it couldn’t be switched on because it was cool outside. I explained that the website clearly said the room was air-conditioned, and that I’d have to leave if it couldn’t be turned on. The receptionist eventually agreed, but it only ran like a fan and didn’t cool the room enough. Because of these issues, I don’t plan to stay here again.

We’re here for our Flitterwoche, and I’m so pleased with the choice. The food and location are great, and yes, there’s bacon on the breakfast buffet! Everything has been tippy toppy. Looking forward to coming back.
