Lifestyle Hotel Leithana

For ice hockey, it’s an excellent location, with the ice rink in the hotel. The gym is very good, but far too hot. The restaurant food was good too, though it was understaffed and very hot, and my Chicken Caesar salad came with a generous portion of pork! The rooms are a lovely size, but the hotel doesn’t really function as a hotel: they weren’t cleaned or serviced, there were no clothes hangers or kettles, and there was nothing besides the beds. They couldn’t even change the toilet roll. The air conditioning didn’t really work until about 0300. Staff seemed quick to say no and generally weren’t well trained.

The location is good, and there’s free parking if you’re traveling by car. Breakfast is plentiful but repetitive. Their daily room cleaning just means replacing towels and taking out rubbish. For anything more, you only get a proper clean once a week, and you have to hang the 'make up my room 'sign on the door and tell reception you want the room cleaned. Otherwise, it won’t happen. When we raised complaints, customer service and support were abysmal compared with other hotels in any first-world country. The gym, spa, and pool entry each cost extra. We won’t be returning.

We chose this place because it looked like a nice location with trees and a park. The reception smelled of gym sweat, the hallways were noisy, and the bathrooms weren’t the cleanest. Breakfast was average.

I’m lying here on what they call a bed, basically a cinder block, wondering why our tour guide booked this awful place. The bathroom shelf is slanted, so I can only hope my toiletry bag doesn’t fall off while I dream about where else I could have stayed. Unless your kid is aiming for the NHL, and they won’t make it, there’s no reason to stay here. Much nicer or cheaper places are closer to the city center.
