We had a meal there. The staff were nice, and the food was good.

The meals were a real highlight of our winter 2024 week. Breakfast had loads of choice, and dinner was so good that we probably ate more than we should have. Half board worked really well for us, and waiter Viktor was a gentleman with excellent English and perfect service. The rest of the staff were friendly too, though more English would have helped. We stayed in the Gasthaus studios with our family. They were fairly priced and had enough space, but the dated decor and equipment could use an update. The layout was awkward: the main bedroom had no windows, and you had to walk through it to reach the bathroom. The beds and pillows weren't very comfortable either. The main building has a lovely Alpine, vintage feel, especially the wooden lobby and restaurant. Steinadler is much more luxurious, with lovely suites, a lounge bar, spa, pool and sauna. The spa and hammam were fantastic. A corridor connects Steinadler to the main building, which is handy when heading to dinner or walking through in a swimsuit. The Gasthaus has no indoor connection to either, so you have to cross the street in a jacket, or risk the cold in swimwear. A covered link would make a big difference. For skiing, the return run to the hotel is a red slope and can be tricky for beginners or young children. Miss the turn and there's a steep drop to the road below, about 10 metres down. You can ski out via stairs to the red run, but then need to take your skis off to cross the parking area to the Uga lift. We ended up taking the bus both ways. The bus was free and convenient, though the routes and schedules were hard to figure out, so we kept asking drivers where they were going. The ski room is in the hotel, and the boot warmers were great overnight. We loved the Damuls-Mellau Ski Area, especially Mellau and the area around the top of the Uga lift and Hasenbuhel. There are steep cliffs with few protective nets, so take care with children and beginners. We didn't visit Faschina. The road runs through the charming village of Kirchdorf, with the main hotel building on one side and Steinadler and the Gasthaus across the street. Parking beside the hotel has no barrier or wall by a drop of around 30 metres, which feels dangerous and needs attention. We had a wonderful week and would definitely return to Gasthof Adler.

After skiing, it was lovely to relax in the heated outdoor pool or upstairs in the wellness area, with a sauna, infrared room and hammam. The hotel also makes it easy to get onto the slopes: one ski run is a five-minute walk away, and you can set off behind the hotel and ski down to the ski slope parking area. Our family suite was spacious, modern and warm, with a perfect mountain view from the bedroom and terrace. The staff were very friendly. Breakfast and dinner were excellent. Each morning you can pick from three dinner menus, meat, fish or vegetarian, while children have several options such as spaghetti, nuggets and fries, fish fingers or chicken. Drinks aren't included. We had a fantastic holiday here!

We had a great stay. The rooms are spacious, parking is good, and the hotel is perfectly located. The spa is lovely, the food is excellent, and the people are just as nice.
