Hotel Hochsteg-Gütl

There’s a complimentary shuttle to downtown Ebensee and the train station. Either one is walkable, but far enough away that it feels a little inconvenient. The hotel was beautiful and immaculate, and I highly recommend it for a relaxing getaway.

The apartment was roomy, and there’s plenty of free parking. We also enjoyed the pool, plus afternoon cake and coffee. Breakfast was perfect, and the staff were friendly and pleasant. The hotel has been renovated while keeping the building’s traditional character. It’s a handy base for exploring Salzkammergut by car, though Ebensee’s center is a bit of a walk, about 30 minutes.

We had everything we needed for a family break here. There’s a lovely restaurant next door with a big garden and a playground for children, and the lake is an easy walk away. The rooms are spacious, the indoor pool is a nice extra, and the staff were genuinely helpful and friendly. The town center and cable car station are also fairly close. The setting is beautiful.

The indoor pool was a welcome place to unwind after a full day out, and breakfast each morning was delicious, prepared by the host. Our room matched its description and had a very comfortable bed. The family running Hotel Hochsteg Gütl were warm and welcoming from arrival, and our host made sure we had the information we needed and checked in on us now and then. Their restaurant right beside the guesthouse served very good food. It was busy most evenings, though closed Mondays and Tuesdays. The restaurant staff were attentive and friendly too. We had a very good stay and meals, and would gladly return when we're back in the region. We recommend Hotel Hochsteg Gütl.
