Cityhotel Junger Fuchs

We stayed over Easter weekend in 2024, and I’ve never felt more welcome at a hotel in Europe. There was a lively nightlife, and we could hear it through the windows, but that was expected in the middle of all the action. We slept comfortably, and the room was clean and welcoming. When we checked out on Easter morning, there was a little basket outside our door with chocolates, colored boiled eggs, and a coloring book with pencils for my little one. We’d had a problem booking online and ended up with the wrong room for our family of five and one dog. The owner sorted it out, personally prepared a family room with enough space, and was so kind to our kids and dog, offering candy and dog treats. The room was stocked with extra blankets, towels, and pillows, and had candy for the kids. I’d stay here again.

The location is incredible, and the room was nice. I slept well, the key card and shower both worked. The sheets had a few small odd stains and some holes, probably from cigarette ash. Reception closes early, though I’m not sure exactly when. I called the number they provided, and the receptionist said I was lucky because sometimes they give your room to someone else and keep your money if you don’t check in before 18:00. That sounds odd and borderline illegal to me, so maybe I misunderstood.

The rooms are clean and small but nice, and the location is super. Still, it was impossible to sleep. There’s a bar just below, with noise going on very late, then the church across from the hotel wakes you at 6am with its bells. After that they ring every 15 minutes, with a full show every hour. You can’t avoid hearing it. Also, if you’re really overweight, this place isn’t suitable, the stairs are very narrow and there’s no lift.

There are lots of restaurants and shops nearby. The room was clean and had everything we needed. It’s a little far from the train station, but Uber is available in the city and was a cheap way to get to the hotel.
