Gasthaus Überfuhr

The staff were friendly, and the food and beer were good. Rooms are basic but clean, just right for an overnight stop while passing through.

The room itself looked clean, but our stay had too many small problems for the price. We might have been unlucky, but the experience was disappointing enough that we won't be giving the hotel another try. The worst part was the hot water. At around 10 pm, there was either a trickle of warm water or a strong flow of very cold water. The next morning my wife only had warm water briefly before it turned extremely cold while she had shampoo in her hair. She was furious about having to rinse it out in freezing water. At this price, that shouldn't happen. The room attendants also walked straight in without knocking while we were still inside, then said sorry. I raised it with an employee, who explained there was a lock on the door to prevent this. We hadn't been told about it, so new guests should be shown how it works instead of being expected to know. Hotels all do things differently, and we hadn't stayed in one for four years. The restaurant was closed Tuesday and Wednesday. That was listed on the website, so I don't count it as a complaint, but it's a heads-up for anyone who hasn't checked before arriving hungry. The drinks vending machine was meant to be the only way to buy something without driving elsewhere while the restaurant was shut. It was already out of several options, including all the radlers when we bought three, and it was even emptier the next day. They should keep it stocked on restaurant closure days.

We stayed three nights through Booking. Ask for a room with a window, otherwise the fanlight means you'll want to bring a sleep mask.

The service was kind and the prices average. The Austrian food was good and typical, though there wasn't much variety.
