The gardens and scenery around this charming little place were stunning, and our room was roomy and adorable. The staff made a real effort to welcome us and make us feel like family. We travelled across Europe, from Amsterdam to Rome, Berlin and Paris, and this was easily our favorite stay. Fehring is a lovely place to spend a holiday, so I’d pick it over the other nearby tourist spots like Vienna, Berlin or Prague. I’d give it more than five stars if I could!

The breakfast was fantastic, with plenty of homemade dishes and options for vegans. Our rooms were beautifully decorated, and the owners went out of their way to help us feel comfortable, including recommending things to do nearby. I’d definitely stay here again if I return to the region.

The garden was a lovely place to unwind after my bike tour. I spent two wonderful nights here, and the place has a friendly, welcoming, do-it-yourself kind of feel.

Pamela and Klaus had loads of good advice about the area, and we were sorry not to have time for everything on our list. We’d be thrilled to come back. On this visit, we went to Riegersburg, which is a must, Buschenschank Kuruzzenschenke about 1.3 miles away, Zotter for chocolate, and Goelles for vinegars and fruit-based spirits. We also walked over the bridge to Bad Radkersburg, which is a five-minute walk and takes you into Slovenia. Breakfast was fantastic, with fresh eggs from their own hens and lots of homemade food, including different hams. Helene, one of the hens, is adventurous and can be bribed with food. Our room was cozy and kept the layout of the original building, which dates back to 1799. It was quiet, with birds chirping as the loudest sound most of the time. We’ve stayed in plenty of places over the years, but I can’t remember feeling more comfortable than here. Pamela and Klaus do a wonderful job of living up to the name of the place, which means “be comfortable” or “enjoy yourself.”
