The food was a real highlight, especially dinner, which was cooked beautifully and felt almost Michelin-level. Breakfast was just okay. We also loved the views from the room and dining area, the friendly family who seem to run the hotel, and the clean, comfortable rooms with good beds. There’s plenty of parking, even for our group of roadsters. The lobby and other interiors feel cozy, though the hotel can seem like a labyrinth at first. We got used to the layout quickly. There are also plenty of activity rooms, saunas, pools, a bar, and a billiard room. The town itself is small, beautiful, and spectacular. I’m planning to come back.

The multi-course dinner alone would make me want to return to Hotel Alpenkrone. The dishes used fresh ingredients and brought out the region’s flavors, from the appetizers through the desserts. Everything was carefully presented, and the staff knew the menu well. Breakfast was just as impressive for its wide choice of favorites and local specialties, including fresh pastries, fruit, and eggs. It was abundant and well kept, and the views over the quiet landscape made starting the day especially nice. The hotel is tucked away in a peaceful spot, but getting there was easy, with well-maintained roads leading right to it. It’s a good place to step away from crowds and spend time in nature without a long or complicated trip. I’d recommend it to food lovers and anyone looking for a calm retreat.

The walk up from the village was the one drawback, though the location wouldn’t have had its views without that climb. We had a great week, loved Filzmoos, and I’d stay here again. The food was excellent.

Breakfast started to feel repetitive after three mornings, and we ran out of ideas for what to choose. Apart from that, everything was good and the stay was great value for the money.
