We liked it so much that we’re coming back for a second visit. The hosts are friendly, and the location and amenities are hard to beat. It’s clean, modern, and cozy enough to make you want to stay put.

We’ll be back. The location worked perfectly for us, with the Finkenberg cable car nearby and the Hintertux Glacier and Mayrhofen lifts easy to reach. Our group of six, four adults and two children, booked the Kolm and Zemmwald apartments. Both were clean and well equipped, with a nice blend of modern and traditional furnishings. Each had a fully automatic coffee machine, and the mini sauna in Kolm was a welcome surprise. The owners were friendly too.

The huge balcony and terrace gave us a lovely mountain view, and bread delivery was very handy. The apartment was spotless, with a particularly well equipped kitchen and decor that mixed modern and traditional styles nicely. The Widkal family were welcoming and helpful. It’s between Mayrhofen and Finkenberg, both about five minutes away by car. We’d happily return.

The only thing that bothered me was the beds: I found them too hard and had some trouble getting up in the morning. Still, we had a wonderful stay in the Tristner apartment in July 2023, and the hosts really do go out of their way for guests. We were greeted with homemade cake and a bottle of wine. Thank you, and all the best until next time. The apartment is spacious, with two separate bedrooms and lots of storage. There’s a large, comfortable corner sofa, a big table with a bench and plenty of chairs, a bathroom with two sinks, a shower and a sauna we didn’t use, as well as a separate toilet. The balcony is mostly covered, and there’s a seating area under its own glass roof. A clothes rack is provided, so airing clothes and shoes after a hike is easy. The car can be parked under cover. The kitchen was the most comprehensively equipped we’ve come across, with a dishwasher, fridge and freezer compartment, stove, oven, microwave, toaster, fully automatic coffee machine and much more. Bring your own coffee beans. There was enough crockery for four people, so the dishwasher didn’t have to run constantly, and several tea towels were supplied. The property is on a hillside overlooking Mayrhofen. You can walk to Finkenberg or the “Glocke” nature reserve without using the road. For the rest of the way, take the car or bus, which stops practically at the door. Bread rolls can be ordered separately for the morning. I was concerned about road noise at first, but you hear relatively little.
