Our apartment had a stunning mountain view, plenty of space and good heating. The beds were very comfortable, and the kitchen had all the pots, pans and utensils we needed. When we asked, the owner even brought us a toaster. There’s a nice sauna, plus fresh bread rolls delivered in the morning. We spent a week skiing in the fantastic serfaus fiss ladis ski area, with the lift just a 3-minute walk away and a supermarket an easy 10 minutes on foot.

The cable car is right nearby, and the apartment was comfortable and clean, though the couch could have been washed. There was everything we needed to cook. Still, we won’t return. We’d confirmed ski storage by email, but on arrival there weren’t enough lockers for us, and the baby’s cot had no bed linen. When we asked, the owner brought covered linen from another room, and I really don’t know whether it had been washed. The most stressful part came on our last day, when the owner asked us to pay a bill we’d already paid two days earlier. We had an invoice from the owner without his signature, so he doubted the payment, even though he’d taken the money himself. After we explained when we paid and had to come back to complete the payment, he finally remembered receiving it and apologized. That situation should never happen. It was extremely stressful for us.

We stayed for a week in late February 2020 as a large family, using rooms 108 and 207. The ski lifts are close, and the hotel offered in advance to reserve storage boxes at the lift station depot. The ski depots in Fiss are a great system. Both room kitchens were well equipped, as you’d expect at a four-star apart hotel in Austria, and we appreciated the morning bread service. The serious problem was the foldable bed in room 108. We knew someone would sleep on the foldable bed or couch, and expected it to be less comfortable than a regular bed. But this one, especially the cover mattress, was worn so thin we could feel the rims beneath it. It creaked terribly whenever anyone turned over. For the price and star rating, that bed was absolutely unacceptable, and we won’t stay here again. Other hotels in the same price range have much better foldable beds. The beds in room 207 were fine, and everything else was great, but being able to sleep in a reasonable bed matters, so that’s reflected in our rating.

The beds were wonderfully comfortable, and the room was made up beautifully in a different way each day. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. It’s a fantastic Austrian hotel within walking distance of the slopes. Highly recommended!
