Bed & Breakfast Alpenzeit Flachau

A calm, lovely spot. The beds were really comfortable, and breakfast tasted good.

The bus stops right outside, Spacejet 1 is close by, and the town center isn’t far away. We were comfortable in our room and enjoyed the tasty breakfast, especially the Drenthe sugar bread. The common room was a nice place to have a drink or play a game in the evening. The Dutch owners made us feel at home, were easy to talk to, and gave us useful tips. We had a fantastic time at Alpenzeit in Flachau and would love to return.

The owners were so hospitable. They even drove us to the train, and let a friend join us for breakfast. We spent a week here and found the hotel cozy, clean, and welcoming. The rooms were nice and tidy, and breakfast was delicious, with lots to choose from. I’d happily stay again next time.

Our car broke down on Christmas Day, and with no garage available until after the weekend, we had to cancel our family holiday after Christmas at "Alpenzeit". The ADAC (German Automobile Club) couldn’t help us. We had no insurance, so their suggestion that we claim through insurance wasn’t an option for us. I called "Alpenzeit" right away. They said that in this situation they’d refund only 10%, but would try to rent the apartment to someone else and possibly refund a bit more. A little over a week later, after I followed up, they said they hadn’t found anyone and that we’d get nothing back. That was different from what we’d initially been told about the 10% refund. Their email replies had felt cold and terse from the start, unlike our experiences with other places in the Salzburg region. I understand this might comply with Austrian rules, which apparently allow charges of up to 100%, but I would have expected at least a symbolic refund since we’d incurred no costs on site. After this, we wouldn’t book here again. A shame.
