I never got served, so I can’t comment on the food. The tables all had numbers and menus, and there was no sign at all saying it was self-service. Nobody was walking around with tablets or anything else that might have made that clear. I only read the other reviews days later, back home, and apparently there are two areas, one with table service and one without. I can program software, but somehow I couldn’t figure that out while I was there. Thankfully, there are dozens of other huts where it’s made clear.

If you want to step out of the hotel and straight onto several walking trails, or wake up high on the mountain, this is the place. The staff are very courteous, breakfast was nice, and the restaurant food was good.

The food came quickly and tasted okay, but I thought it was a bit overpriced. This was the least authentic Ski-Hütte we found in Flachau this winter, average at best. I won’t be back, there are better options on the mountain.

Even with the weekend crowds, the kitchen seemed well managed and the hospitality was friendly. Service was quick and good, and the prices were slightly lower than downstairs. There are lots of choices; I’d go for the weekend special, roasted pork with sauerkraut. It was juicy and tender, with an Austrian aroma. The burger and cake were pretty standard, and portions are big. I left feeling rested, warm, and full, and the toilet was clean.
