It seemed like a friendly, pleasant place at first, but the stay turned into a nightmare. The owner was extremely rude and even threw some of our clothes away. I would never recommend it.

The food was okay, but the rooms were damaged and smelled as if someone had been smoking in them.
We stayed in room A3, a five-person room, with our school group in April 2025. It worked well enough for a school trip, though the place felt dated and had some drawbacks. Dinner was a pleasant surprise. The first night we had tomato soup and a bread roll, though the soup was so hot we had to wait before eating. The herb macaroni was simple but nicely seasoned, and the pancakes with powdered sugar were delicious. We could take several, and some were left over. At our last dinner, the soup had strips of leftover pancakes in it. It looked a little like bread in soup and tasted salty, but was edible. Schnitzel and potatoes followed, though we only got 7 to 8 potato pieces each. The room had a kitchenette and seating area, a bunk bed, a single bed, and a double bed made up of two separate beds. There was an old cupboard in the corner. The LG TV had Netflix and YouTube buttons that didn't work. The bathroom was to the left of the entrance. The shower smelled a bit musty, and the toilet had an orange-yellow stripe, though it worked fine. A shoe rack and an old boiler added to the old-fashioned feel. The balcony connects with balconies from other rooms, so in theory someone could walk into the room from there. We kept the balcony doors locked and left a window slightly open for air. There were also showers outside the rooms. The boys' shower area had no separate cubicles, so everyone had to shower in the same open space. The girls' showers did have cubicles, which seemed a bit odd. The area was slippery, the lights went out for no clear reason, and it all felt very old. Breakfast was basic but enough to get started: muesli with milk, sweet hot cocoa that cooled quickly, bread to slice that looked like Dutch Kaiser rolls, and simple toppings such as jam, cheese, and salami. Whether that feels meager depends on what you're used to. The wifi was a major frustration. It barely connected, and when it did, it only worked occasionally, which made it hard to look things up or keep in touch. For about €45 per night for the room, with food included, Gasthaus Daum is a reasonable budget option. It was cozy and functional, and the food was tasty. I wouldn't expect luxury, but it can suit school groups or budget travelers coming to ski, snowboard, and spend time together.
Getting around was easy by bus, so the location was okay. The rooms, though, are dated, and our kitchen in the 12-person room didn't work. There wasn't enough storage, no internet connection in the room, and the staff weren't very friendly. I might suggest it for a large group, but not for a family.
The rooms seemed cozy at first and came in several configurations, and the showers were great. The bathroom was clean, and meals arrived quickly. Food was served in a less appealing space, though, with few vegetarian choices. The staff made the stay unpleasant. They were extremely rude, unwilling to help, and there was a lot of arguing. When we left, we were suddenly charged 500 euros in supposed cleaning costs, something nobody had mentioned beforehand. Being forced to pay created a very unpleasant atmosphere. Staff also deliberately threw away our clothes, and we were unexpectedly denied access to the public showers and toilets. It was a disappointing end to what had started as a very nice stay. I'd tell future travelers to agree on prices and arrangements in advance.
