Doug's Mountain Getaway

Staying at DMG was the highlight of our European adventure. We had an amazing time and found a second home in Austria when we didn’t expect to. Thanks for having us. We can’t wait to return.

I’ve already been back once and would return again in a heartbeat. So much care and attention to detail has gone into making a stay at DMG special. It’s in a beautiful town between the mountains, one of those rare places in the world. I love it 🤗💗🏔

I booked this place in February 2025 for 6-9 November so I could reunite with family from across Europe, and paid 2400€ upfront, half the cost. Six months later, in August, Douglas cancelled the reservation, apparently because of a double booking. I’d had plenty of options back in February and chose this one, but now there was nothing available anywhere near a glacier. The only suggestion from Douglas, “alpendorf elferblick”, sounded really bad and like a completely different kind of experience. My relatives had taken time off work and booked flights for what was meant to be a special occasion. Now we’re left with huge costs and no holiday. The place looks amazing, but that means nothing if a booking can’t be relied on and gets cancelled six months later.

Steve was kind and helpful, and the house itself is great, with plenty of space and comfortable beds. We had a nice time. The major issue was that the whirlpool and sauna were gone and had to be shut down, even though they were still advertised when we booked. We weren’t told about it and got no refund. For such an expensive place, with so much advertised, I expected things to be really good. Many of the hundreds of listed console games didn’t work either, which was tedious. The bunk bed in one of the first-floor bedrooms was so loose and noisy that the upper bed couldn’t be slept in. We still enjoyed our stay, but some things could be fixed.
