Euro Youth Hotel & Krone

We stayed at Thermenhotel Krone during its opening weekend, so there was still work to do before everything ran smoothly. Even so, the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The hotel sits right in the heart of Bad Gastein, close to the gondola, and parking is very convenient. The location and the team's service-minded approach give it a lot of potential.

A really good hotel, apart from breakfast, which seemed to be a random selection of things bought from the nearby Spar.

The free access to felsenterme was a nice extra, and the location worked really well for skiing. I'll definitely come back.

We spent three nights here on a ski holiday with half-board. The location is one of the best in town, with the valley station just a two-minute walk away, and unlimited thermal bath access is included. The house beer on tap is Augustiner, a definite perk if you like beer. Our room was less appealing. The so-called double bed was only a meter wide, leaving no room for privacy, and without bathroom ventilation it felt like having a sauna we hadn't asked for. Meals were the bigger letdown. The food was abysmal, from dry breakfast rolls and awful vending machine coffee to the apple strudel's vanilla sauce, which was more like thick pudding. It seemed to be the same sauce every day. Dinner came with the same song on repeat all evening, while cables dangled from the dining room ceiling. At least we were on the slopes quickly after breakfast. Service wasn't pushy, but we had to ask in English for drinks and the bill at dinner. As German-speaking guests in Austria, we didn't expect that, though it could suit someone hoping to practice English or Swedish. One Austrian waitress stood out for being much more attentive and efficient.
