Breakfast was good, and the rooms were kept clean and tidy. The staff were really nice too.

We were cycling and had originally hoped to stay in Dorfgastein, but couldn’t find a place that suited us. We chose this spot because it had rooms and a restaurant, which sounded ideal for dinner after a day on the bike. We misjudged the travel time and arrived at 20:30, half an hour after the late check-in time we’d requested. They showed us the very secure bike storage room, then explained that the restaurant had closed at 20:15. Seeing how forlorn we looked, though, they asked us to wait while they tried to put something together. They made a mixed salad and a wonderful dish of mushrooms (Eierschwammerl) in sauce with dumplings (Knödel) and cream (Schlagobers), and even brought us beer. Such kind hospitality and service. The room was cozy and very comfortable, and breakfast was a good continental spread. Just be careful in the shower, as water can overflow and seep under the door. The people here really looked after us and were so accommodating. We had a great experience and highly recommend it.

The room for two was plain, with beds and a table, though that seemed typical for the area. The bathroom was clean and nice. Several ski areas are nearby and easy to reach by car. The people running this gasthof are very friendly. Half-board meals were okay, and breakfast had lots to choose from. Still, no baked eggs? At dinner you can choose between two kinds of meals.

We got a very nice room that was cleaned daily, and I doubt you’d find a much better one in the region even for more money. The staff were polite and very nice, too. It’s great value for what you pay. Breakfast was fine, but it started late and there often wasn’t enough.
