The surrounding hiking trails add to the peace of the monastery, and the old building has a lovely atmosphere. My son and I stayed three nights at the Jakob Kern Guesthouse and felt at home as soon as we arrived. Our room was huge and beautiful, with a large, comfortable bed. We both slept really well, which is unusual for me. The bathroom is an interesting setup: from outside it looks a bit like a safe, but inside it's surprisingly spacious and one of the cleanest I've seen. There was no buffet during the Covid restrictions, but everything you could want was still available (see photo). Mr. Graffi is there every day, attentive and always ready with a friendly word for guests. The woman who brings breakfast is friendly too. We wholeheartedly recommend the JK Guesthouse and would love to return.

Alexander Graffi and his wife Susi are perfect hosts, and I highly recommend staying here. The rooms in this nearly 300-year-old building are wonderful, and you feel like royalty. The bathroom is a small separate unit and a listed historic feature. For preservation purposes, it's officially classed as a piece of furniture.

There's unspoilt nature around this beautiful monastery. On hikes, we saw hares, deer, partridges, and pheasants. The guesthouse room was lovely, and both the monastery and guesthouse are very quiet. Breakfast is a small buffet, but everything was tasty and high quality. We were welcomed warmly and the service felt friendly and personal.

Above all, Geras Abbey's guesthouse offers peace and quiet, along with everything you need in a monastery. Alexander Graffi and Susi run it excellently. The balance of mind and body makes a stay here truly special.

The large, beautiful rooms have high ceilings. Breakfast was okay, and the surrounding area is wonderful. The Thaya Valley is only a short distance away, with its many magnificent old castles and ruins. I highly recommend taking a guided tour of the monastery.
