Hotel Edelweiss

The cable car, ski rental, and shop are practically right beside the hotel, and there's a small pool and two saunas for afterwards. The staff are always welcoming, polite, and helpful. I keep returning because it's such a good fit for skiing and good food. Dinner is a four-course treat.

Evenings here came with fantastic food served in cozy surroundings. There’s also a spa and cinema guests can use for free, and we got a lovely room with a large balcony. The hotel is right by a ski rental shop, the ski lesson school office, and the lift up to the slopes, which made getting out to ski very convenient. We spent five days here as a family with the half-board and ski package and had a really enjoyable stay. We're already looking forward to coming back next year. The staff spoke English and were warm, friendly, and accommodating. We got to know them by their first names and were sad to say goodbye. The infinity-style pool looks out toward the mountains, and there are several saunas. Our rooms were spacious, clean, and warm, and the building has nice decor. It took a little getting used to the bathroom having no door. The half-board menu wasn't extensive, but everything offered was well prepared and there was enough to satisfy our fussy-eating kids.

The shower was superb, and the room was clean, though not very big. Still, at €350 per night for a two-person room, I couldn't find anything that justified the price. There was no refrigerator or minibar, and I think both a fridge and climate control are reasonable things to expect at that rate. There was no way to adjust the room temperature, either with air conditioning or heating. We left the window open to cool it down, but then outside noise came in, and there wasn't a radiator for drying wet gloves. The TV was hardly bigger than my laptop screen. At breakfast there was a queue, since it began at 08:00 and lots of people wanted to reach the first elevator by 08:30. The staff seemed to be doing their jobs, but compared with other hotels I've visited in Austria, they weren't as friendly or engaged. The reception had no bell and was often unattended, so I had to wait in the lobby hoping someone would appear. I suppose I could have called from the room, but I didn't try. The hotel wasn't bad, but judging it for value against the price, I'd give it three or four stars if the rate were lower.
