Business Hotel Maier

We booked two spacious rooms for one night during a road trip, but serious problems made the stay unsatisfactory. The ground floor room had cockroaches and other insects throughout, and the cleaning was far below standard. One room seemed not to have been cleaned at all after the previous guest; the other looked only superficially cleaned. It was over 34°C and there was no air conditioning. We had to leave doors open to get air, which affected both comfort and security. Guests talked loudly on balconies through the night, and with no staff on site there was nobody to handle noise or room complaints. The common areas had also become a gathering place for local youth. Self check-in was poorly set up, and our booking couldn't be found. The towels didn't match the listing photos either: we got one per room rather than the 3-4 shown. Room size was the one advantage, with enough space for us and our luggage.

The room had useful facilities, including a kitchen and balcony, and the gym was well equipped. Still, the sheets smelled used, the floor hadn't been vacuumed, and the gym wasn't clean. The so-called spa is just a mini sauna that doesn't work. The idea of a hotel without staff is great, but for such a new place it felt poorly kept and a bit dirty. I wouldn't stay again. I hope places that follow this model hire better cleaning staff and install A/C.

The location was good and the area quiet, and parking was free and convenient. The gym was one of the three best hotel gyms I've visited. The room looked modern but was dirty, with disgusting hair in the bed. There was also a bad sewage smell in the bathroom.

There are lots of restaurants and bakeries nearby, and plenty of underground parking. The suite was clean and nice, with a pleasant breeze from its west-facing balcony, though it had a fan but no A/C. Check-in was self-service and customer service responded quickly. Since no single rooms were available, they upgraded me to a suite.
